While studying architecture and design, I began painting to earn a few extra dollars, never imagining it would turn into a much loved career, including illustration and teaching art to adults.
I'm a landscape painter first and foremost, but also love our NZ birds, and work in both oils and watercolours.
I've had numerous solo exhibitions at venues such as the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts and Aratoi Wairarapa Museum of Art and History, as well as exhibiting in a variety of galleries and many group shows all over New Zealand during the past 25 years.
Commissions continue to make up a large part of my work.
One of the unexpected joys of teaching, has been the improvement of my own skills and also continuing to learn from the students.
The painting workshops and night classes have always proved popular, and I love to share the knowledge I've learnt over many years of painting.
I live in the rural Wairarapa of the North Island of beautiful New Zealand. I've always thought how lucky I am to live in the landscape that I enjoy painting so much, and I spend a lot of time on my daily walks observing the changing light through the day, and through the seasons. If I'm lucky, one of the most magical times is the last ten minutes of light as the sun slips away at dusk, and the land is bathed in an extraordinary glow.
