While studying architecture and design, I began painting to earn a few extra dollars, never imagining it would turn into a much loved career, including illustration and teaching art to adults.
I'm a landscape painter first and foremost, but also love our NZ birds, and work in both oils and watercolours.
I've had numerous solo exhibitions at venues such as the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts and Aratoi Wairarapa Museum of Art and History, as well as exhibiting in a variety of galleries and many group shows all over New Zealand during the past 30 years.
Commissions continue to make up a large part of my work.
One of the unexpected joys of teaching, has been the improvement of my own skills while also learning from the students.
The painting workshops and night classes have always proved popular, and I love to share the knowledge I've learnt over many years of painting.
See workshops or classes to find the latest scheduled opportunities.
I live in the rural Wairarapa of the North Island of beautiful New Zealand. I've always thought how lucky I am to live in the landscape I enjoy painting so much, and observing the changing light throughout the day, and through the seasons. If the weather is right, one of the most magical times is at dusk, in those last ten minutes of light when the land is bathed in an extraordinary glow.
